It's been quiet in the studio since the passing of my horse, Sedona, but things are starting to get better. I'm nearing the completion of the chestnut and I will be starting in on the next "guinea horse" soon.
I did manage to get some models all primed and ready for paint.

Tamiya primer was in short supply when I wanted to try a better primer for Micro Minis, one that didn't glop on so heavy that it obliterated the tiny details. So I thought I would try The Army Painter brand, another primer made for the miniature market, and less expensive than the Tamiya.
So far, I like it. I haven't tried the Tamiya yet to compare it to, but compared to the regular primers like Rustoleum and Krylon and such, it goes on finer and doesn't fill in the fine details like regular primers do. You just have to be sure to shake, shake, shake the can to make sure everything is mixed really well. And it doesn't STINK as bad as some of the regular primers, which is a big deal in my book.

Work would have started on this one right away but it arrived with primer issues (wrinkling all over) which required a lot of time spent sanding and sanding. But I think it is finally ready for paint - yay!
If you recall, I offered to very inexpensively paint plastic models that were prepped and ready to go, if I could use them to try my new paints and some new techniques out. This is one of the two that took me up on my offer. This one is telling me it wants to be dappled gray. I'm not sure how dark of a dappled gray it will be but I am leaning towards a dark dappled gray. Stay tuned!
